Electrical Wiring…

Yesterday I had to change out this panel I showed on You Tube.

The change out took me most of the day to replace the panel itself. However there was the prep work to ensure the change out took place with minimum down time for the owner.

Once I shut the power down and started ripping out the old crap there is no turning back.Meanwhile I have the owner standing behind me asking,do you have everything you need to get the new panel back up?My answer was -you bet!Owners panic when you’re unsure. I don’t care how good you are-you start thinking about this! After all,if you fail, the business can not reopen. If  the business can’t open when promised someone is gonna be pissed!

Planning Your Project…

This was a “planned project”.I had time to prepare for installing the new panel.I had everything I needed. So I thought!
I don’t know about others but I hate having to leave mid project and taking a hour to go get 1 stupid part to complete a job.So that is what I did,ran after one stupid part. The owner did not know,I told him I was headed out to lunch, I ate lunch, picked up the part and went back to work. And I had everything I needed to get done on time. LOL,he will never know.

Oh well,no one’s perfect. Can’t think of everything. This stuff happens.I got the job done in the time I told the owner it would take and he was able to reopen when planned.

Take the time you need to think of everything you can before doing a panel change that has a time limit. If something comes up and you do need to get more electrical supplies oh well.Keep going on the project as long as you can.Don’t run for parts 3 or 4 times during the day.It makes you look like you weren’t organized. In new construction there is always tomorrow.Right?
